Enough Abuse Campaign Breakfast Open to Public
Hyannis, MA, April 5, 2016 — Please join members of the Cape and Islands Enough Abuse Campaign Committee on Friday, April 15 from 9:00-11:00am for the Enough Abuse Awareness Breakfast. This community meeting event is free and open to all service providers, organizations, parents, educators and those interested in stopping sexual abuse of children.
Child sexual abuse is a “Silent Epidemic”. “One in four women and one in six men report that they have been sexually abused as children by someone they knew, trusted or loved. This is not “stranger danger.” We are determined to talk about it and help our community talk about it.
Child Sexual Abuse that is not addressed is a leading cause of adult health problems. Up to 40% of children who are sexually abused become abusers themselves*.
The mission of the Enough Abuse Campaign is to prevent child sexual abuse ‘before’ it starts. It requires a comprehensive effort by adults and community members engaging together and not relying solely on educating young children to protect themselves.
The Enough Abuse Awareness Breakfast will be held at the Cape Cod Family Resource Center, 29 Bassett Lane in Hyannis. We welcome Keynote Speaker Jetta Bernier, Executive Director of MassKids, the State-wide child advocacy organization in its 55th year of advocating for Massachusetts’ most vulnerable children.
