Where are our Black Girls?

Independence House Executive Director, Lysetta Hurge-Putnam has been invited to take part in a virtual panel discussion based on Shirley Chisholm’s best-known quote, “If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.” Shirley Chisholm was the first African American woman in Congress (1968) and the first African American woman to seek nomination for president of the United States. The panel will also include students, staff and invited guests.
