SUMMARY:Clothesline Project Display at Cultural Center of Cape Cod
DESCRIPTION:    The Clothesline Project started on Cape Cod in 1990 by survivors of intimate partner violence\, to address the issue of violence against women. While 58\,000 soldiers died in the Vietnam War\, there were 51\,000 women killed around the same time by men who claimed to love them. The Clothesline is a vehicle for survivors affected by violence to express their emotions by decorating a tee shirt. The shirts are hung on a clothesline to be viewed by others as testimony to the problem of violence against women.  It is a visual reminder of statistics that we often ignore.

SUMMARY:Creative Expressions Workshop at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod
DESCRIPTION:Independence House will be facilitating the Creative Expression workshop from 6:00-7:00pm at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod. During this workshop we invite you to join us in a process\, not product\, focused creative experience. Our goal is to promote and enhance physical\, emotional and mental health through use of creative and expressive art. We hope to decrease symptoms of depression\, anxiety and stress while increasing self-awareness and self-esteem. This group is a non-judgmental\, healing space to be creatively brave in. We will use various prompts each month to assist participants in getting to what is calling to be expressed. We are more than the trauma/abuse/pain we have suffered. We are whole people with full and diverse life experiences. Expressing ourselves creatively can get to the beauty and power of who we truly are. \n
